We Were Off

To a foreign county we were off

We don’t know their lingo enough

And as everybody answers

You can’t know it ‘til you life the words

So off to the villas and towns

To speak in the native surrounds

Ready? Here we are. Get out of the cab

Here comes a folk—take a stab

Well, here’s another. Must be his brother

Why do they all act so   bad?

We leave for home a little later in a month

We haven’t confirmed speech so much

As served an odd function

In the community gumption

Of teaching our own tongue to such
