BEANERY WRITERS GROUP MAY 9, 2011 PROMPT
BEANERY WRITERS GROUP MEETING MAY 13, 2011
The next Beanery Writers Group meeting date is Friday, May 13, 2011. We’ll meet at the regular place—the Coffee Bean Café 1:00-3:00. Gather early for sociability and/or eats. The back room is being reserved from noon to three, so we can gather and socialize without taking up the space for customers at the coffee shop.
BEANERY WRITERS BOOKLET
Please prepare any items for the Beanery Writers 2011 Booklet. Since my life has been in disarray, we are behind and need to hasten forward. We haven’t determined if we are having a specific topic or if we are freewheeling. We will discuss this at the May 13 meeting. Please bring any items you wish to submit.
For those persons who went on field trips to Ligonier Tavern, Compass Inn and/or Eastwood Inn, keep working on your writings. Please bring them to the January 28 meeting, regardless of the stage of progress, so we can assess where we stand in terms of presenting a proposal to Kentuck Knob.
If you are writing on an independent structure, keep up the good work. These experiences/writings will be the basis of some major decisions in January. Bring your preliminary writing to the next writer’s group meeting.
I’m pleased to hear that the prompts are stimulating people to write, even if the writings are not sent to us. Keep up the good work!
BEANERY WRITERS GROUP May 9, 2011, PROMPT
The first Kentucky Derby was held on May 17, 1875. Have you ever been to a Kentucky Derby, or do you have a dreamy wish to go? What do you know about the Derby? If you know nothing about the Derby, surf the Internet for five facts about it.
Sit down for 7 minutes and just write. Then, if you feel so inclined, develop your 7 minute writing further.
If you continue writing on the prompt, turning it into an item, e-mail it to me. Perhaps it can be posted at a future time!
Email your results (the seven minute writing) to me or bring your results to the next meeting.
Hopefully, another prompt will be posted next Monday.
NOTE: The Beanery Online Literary Magazine seeks submissions for Memorial Day, July 4 and summer issues.
Thanks to those writers who are sending items.
Carolyn C. Holland, your group facilitator
