Gifts at Christmas

GIFTS AT CHRISTMAS

Joanne McGough

A final poem to close the Christmas season:

Magi gifts—you remember

adoration’s poster guys

in purple robes and wise faces,

humble on bended knee,

pledging homage eternally

to the Christed Babe.

They offered wealth

          From full coffers.

I have not gold nor white money.

My gift is to the Babe—a wish

this day that you shall receive,

keep, as much love as you need.

         Then give some away.
