Anno Domini: The Beginning

BEANERY ONLINE LITERARY MAGAZINE

ANNO DOMINI: THE BEGINNING

Joanne McGough

Morning broke slowly.

With great force but no haste

                     the Source of new day

suffered the sun to emerge, escape,

                      push up over mountains

as the borning babe came free

                      from Mother’s passage.

The Source made way for light.

Light stirred life

                       as breath entered the Babe,

                       His walloping cry

                       the same Hallelujah

                       that praises Almighty God.

New day.  New untethered Babe:

                     born as others

                     craving nurture, suckle, love,

                     but rare in purpose.

                     Pure.

                    Unparalled in promise.
