A limerick has five lines and is usually humorous.
Lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme; lines 3 and 4 rhyme.
Last year’s limerick topic was “marriage, murder, or any combination thereof.” The first-prize winner was by Mimsie (Huttenhower) Shepler of Jeannette:

They looked at each other with dread,
The couple who should not have wed.
“Till death do us part.”
They took that to heart,
And plotted to kill their spouse dead.

“Come as You Were” was written by Mary Ann Mogus and is directed by Rebecca Dunn. Enjoy the catered meal, help solve the murder, and win a prize if you deduce correctly. Mayhem and murder ensue at the Mayhew mansion in the interactive mystery dinner theater, with pink Porsches, academic rivalry, murderous frogs, and pension credit for military service—earned in the Civil War?

“Come as You Were” is the fifteenth annual fundraising event for LVW’s literary magazine, the Loyalhanna Review. Playgoers will receive copies of the latest issue.

Ligonier Valley Writers is a nonprofit group serving writers and readers throughout western Pennsylvania. Membership is open to everyone interested in writing. For more information about LVW events or publications, visit www.LVWonline.org.
