Writers to Take to the Stage at Mystery Saturday

Want to learn how to write a successful play, produce your murder mystery on a budget, and make realistic-looking fake blood (just in time for Halloween)? Then Take to the Stage is the event for you. Sponsored by Ligonier Valley Writers, the workshop will be held at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library on October 11, 2008, from 1:00 to 4:00. Please register in advance for this participatory workshop by calling the library at (724) 837-5620. It’s free and open to the public.

The presenters are Mary Ann Mogus and Barb Miller. Mary Ann will give tips on costuming and set design. Barb will show how to bring your character and play arcs to a successful conclusion.

Mary Ann has written nine interactive murder mystery plays and helped produce them. (You may have seen her play Marriage Is Murder last April, or A Dickens of a Murder last Christmas.) You can reach her at jaguar263@verizon.net or visit her at www.jaguarmirror.net. Barb’s play Regrets won third place in the 1998 Ligonier Valley Writers One-Act Play Contest. You can reach her at scribe@ fallsbend.net or visit www.fallsbend.net.

The latest issue of LVW’s literary magazine, the Loyalhanna Review, will be available at Mystery Saturday. The Review showcases high-quality short stories, essays, and poetry by talented writers, many of them local. You’ll also find it at libraries, newsstands, restaurants, and shops throughout the region.

For more information about any LVW event or publication, visit our website.  We have a new address during October: www.LVWonline.org. We’ll keep you posted on our web address in the future.
