in Easter and Advent devotionals. An essay on her grandmother appears in CeLebrations. Ideals Publications accepted a prose
piece and a poem. She won awards at the Mercer Conference, The Upper Case, the Inspirational Writers Fellowship Contest
(Brookville, Pennsylvania), and the Saltsburg Free Library’s First Annual Poetry Contest. Smith received a scholarship to the
Highlights Foundation Workshop at Chautauqua in 2000 with Bernette Ford as her reader and Eileen Spinelli as her mentor.
Patricia graduated from Indiana State Teacher’s College with a BS in Elementary Education. She is one of twelve children.
