THE LIFE (AND DEATH) CYCLE OF THE ICE CREAM SODA
Erin York
Birth of the ice cream soda
Into a frosted glass
The busiest drink
Trying to devour
Its confines and escape
Burning and fizzing,
Jumping and whizzing
Down a thirsty throat
A cold drink
That wishes it were lukewarm
To calm its crazy calamity
Melting slowly
Stuck to the bottom
Of the glass
Sighing out a noise
That snaps, crackles, pops
Final gulp and slurp of foam
Ended with a delicate burp
The business has ceased
Leaving the Shoppe silent
Death of the ice cream soda
From a frosted glass
