icy steps
confusion lingers
devil grips
shocking pain
tears frozen
movement pondered
reaching
crawling
eyes search
no help
fourteen steps
toward heat
toward life
now coldness
eyes closing
movements slow
hope lost
movement ceases
devil’s forgiveness
sound perceived
eyes open
warmth envelopes
hand extended
balance gained
steps taken
relief of hope
sanctuary gained
life revisited
looking around
who helped?
He helped!
