“A Christmas present
I wonder what”
squeezed and shook
weight pondered
“It’s a candle”
he said with a smile
“how passé”
says his friend
he shakes his head
and continues
“can’t you see
it’s Jesus’ light
that beams
through her
always brightening
our spirits.”
she looks at him
questioning
he continues
“this candle‘s
a metaphor for
every enlightened
Christian”
she still don’t
understand
he continues
“just talking to her
don’t you feel
that you have
a predestined purpose
to be helpful
to others in need”
she ponders but
doesn’t understand
he continues
“don’t you see
by getting up
lighting your candle
you’re offering
your abilities
for God to use
to help others
this is the very
special gift
only you can give”
rethinking her
passé remark
she smiles and says
“WOW, She gave you a candle!!!”
