Caught between two worlds
seeking sanctuary
longing to stay home
where mind and heart roam
free to relax and enjoy
the meaningful things of life.
The bleak repetitiveness of work
chained to a realm of unbending rules
doing what I must do
fills me with dread. . .
Unhappy, stressed, strained
battling constant aches and pains,
I’m unbearably smothered
by petty rules and regulations.
Staying at home – with only myself to please
there’s no ever-present boss to appease.
This pleasant, peaceful place
is uniquely my space
here imagination and inspiration thrive
the lighter, brighter side shines.
I’m delightfully free!
